The Savage Detectives — Roberto Bolaño
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful book, epic love letter to Mexico. The “main” plot bookending all of the little stories is genius. Read it in Spanish, which I haven’t done much of lately, and was happy with how I fared. Impressive writing.
The Idiot — Fyodor Dostoevsky
⭐⭐ The description of the epileptic fit, the anti-Catholic speech, and other moments are great but it’s a slog to get through the high society chatter. Pretty boring.
